TPVL Season 2 Expansion: Hsinchu Keli Engineers Officially Join
Operating on a dual-track of corporate and professional volleyball, becoming the first cross-league team
The Taiwan Professional Volleyball League (TPVL) is about to enter its second year, the 2026-27 season, and the league's territory is expanding once again! Following the professional volleyball craze sparked by the four inaugural teams—Taipei East, Taoyuan Leopards Flying Generals, Taichung Win Streak, and TSG Hawks—the "Hsinchu Keli Engineers Volleyball Team" has officially announced its affiliation, becoming the fifth team in the TPVL and injecting brand-new topics and vitality into the upcoming new season.
It is worth noting that many players on the Hsinchu Keli Engineers roster have genuine engineering backgrounds. "Engineers don't just work overtime and do tech industry tasks; our players also have athletic talents and can achieve remarkable results in the sports community," said Huang Po-Chih.
Team leader Huang Po-Chih single-handedly birthed this team through his passion for volleyball. He built a private stadium to provide volleyball players who felt lost about their future after their student days a new stage to showcase their skills and stable job opportunities. Initially, Huang planned for the team to first join the Enterprise Volleyball League, but after assessing that professional volleyball could offer players a broader stage and more visibility, he decided to accelerate the pace and simultaneously challenge the highest hall of Taiwanese professional volleyball, the TPVL.
Even more specially, the Hsinchu Keli Engineers will operate on a "dual-track" model, competing simultaneously in the Enterprise Volleyball League and the TPVL professional volleyball league, making them currently the only team spanning both major league systems. Such an operational model is considered a pioneering move in Taiwan's volleyball circle. It not only provides players with more diverse competition experience and opportunities to hone their skills but also opens up new possibilities for the league's talent cultivation pathways.
Due to the short time since its formation, the Hsinchu Keli Engineers missed the 2026 draft. However, the team had previously held its own tryouts and recruited a core group of players with solid capabilities. Team leader Huang Po-Chih also revealed that the local roster is currently fully in place, and negotiations with foreign players are underway. They will strive to face strong opponents with a complete roster at the start of the season, injecting more competitive new blood into the league.
Regarding home court management, the Hsinchu Keli Engineers have established Hsinchu City as their base. In the future, they will share the Hsinchu City home arena with P.LEAGUE+ Yankey Engineering and build local connections with the Hsinchu City Government, deepening the bond between the team and the local area through city marketing; the team also plans to collaborate with Yankey Engineering to jointly create a city team brand exclusive to Hsinchu, offering local fans richer viewing options and a sports atmosphere, which is expected to drive attention from the Hsinchu Science Park industrial circle and local communities.
With the fifth team officially in place, as TPVL enters its second season, the league's scale, buzz, and competitive intensity are expected to upgrade simultaneously. The unique positioning of the Hsinchu Keli Engineers' "engineer players," combined with highlights like dual-track operations and cross-sector city collaborations, is bound to add more attractions and topics of discussion for the new season. As the opening day of the 2026-27 season draws closer, what kind of sparks this new team—carrying the local spirit and career transition stories—will ignite in professional volleyball is worth the wait for all volleyball fans as we look forward to the new season together.
