Unprecedented! Top-Tier Taiwan-Japan Pro Volleyball Showdown: The Inaugural TPVL Warm-up Match Makes a Grand Debut
The Taiwan Professional Volleyball League (TPVL) will hold the TPVL Warm-up Match from September 19 to 21, 2025, at the University of Taipei Tianmu Campus Gymnasium. This is not only the first official pre-season matchup since the founding of TPVL, but also a major international event organized by the league with heavy investment and the mobilization of all its resources. From venue planning and international liaison to broadcast arrangements and match specifications, TPVL is going all out to create a high-standard practical drill that aligns with Asia and meets professional standards.
This event will feature the four founding TPVL teams—Taipei East, Taichung Win Streak, Taoyuan Leopards, and TSG Skyhawks—taking on two representative teams from Japan's SV.LEAGUE: Tokyo Great Bears and VOREAS Hokkaido. The six teams will gather for three days of high-intensity cross-matchups, marking the most crucial preparatory combat and firepower test before the opening of the inaugural TPVL season.
It is particularly worth mentioning that making this warm-up match happen was extremely difficult. With the tight schedules of Japan's SV.LEAGUE teams and the high threshold for foreign invitations, TPVL went through lengthy communication and coordination before finally securing the participation of the two teams in Taiwan. Notably, this is the first overseas expedition for the Tokyo Great Bears since their founding, and choosing Taiwan as their first stop symbolizes a high degree of trust and importance. It also highlights the cooperative influence TPVL is gradually establishing in the Asian professional volleyball landscape.
The event will be fully open to spectators, with ticketing information, match schedules, side events, and exciting highlights to be announced successively. For fans, this is a rare opportunity to not only see the preparation results of the four Taiwanese professional teams all at once, but also to witness the first-ever matchups of top SV.LEAGUE teams in Taiwan up close, experiencing the impact and tension of Taiwan-Japan clashes.
