February 14, 2025 — Volleyball in Taiwan officially enters the professional era!
This is not only a long-awaited and important moment for the volleyball community,
but it also symbolizes a new chapter for Taiwanese sports, leading the sport of volleyball forward.
❝Inaugural Season Slogan❞
✧ "Take Action Now, Let's Make Volleyball Better Together!"
Through the professional league, we aim to elevate the players' training environment, allow fans to support their teams up close, drive the mutual growth of cities and teams, and jointly create a new era for volleyball in Taiwan.
❝Four Powerhouses Ready to Go: Inaugural Season Team Lineups Unveiled❞
The North will be led by the East and Chang Wei teams, the Central region will be anchored by the Win Streak team, and the South will be challenged by the TSG Hawks. All four teams feature players of international caliber. Let's look forward to high-level matches and witness the birth of professional volleyball in Taiwan together.
❝Three Major Format Features Leading Volleyball into a New Era❞
✧ "Truly Implementing the Home-and-Away System, Deepening Local Connections"
The TPVL will officially implement a home-and-away system, so matches will no longer be concentrated in a single venue. Instead, teams will return to their respective home cities to play, cultivating local fanbases, deepening community connections, and promoting long-term support for volleyball across different cities.
✧ "Serve Scoring Mechanism"
• Sets 1 to 4: When either team reaches 23 points first, the referee will press the buzzer twice, and the subsequent points will enter the serve scoring mechanism.
• Set 5 (Deciding Set): When either team reaches 13 points first, the referee will similarly press the buzzer twice to activate the serve scoring mechanism.
The introduction of this system will make the crucial moments of the match more highly anticipated, filling every set with variables and ensuring fans get to see more thrillingly competitive scenes.
✧ "Four Foreign Players on the Court Simultaneously"
Each team can field a maximum of 4 foreign players per match. This rule does not include foreign students and players of Chinese descent. This will elevate the level of competition, allowing teams to recruit international-level players to compete and exchange skills with local players, thereby enhancing the strength of Taiwanese volleyball.
❝Building Asia's Top Professional League and Connecting with the World❞
The league plans to gradually promote exchanges with professional leagues across Asia, hoping to build a top-tier volleyball competition in Asia, and perhaps one day become a tournament on the level of the East Asia Super League (EASL), securing a place for Taiwanese volleyball on the international stage.
The establishment of the Taiwan Professional Volleyball League represents not only a comprehensive reform of the sport, but also brings more expectations and opportunities for fans and players. In the future, the league will continue striving to enhance the scale and competitiveness of the events, dedicating itself to making volleyball a crucial part of Taiwanese sports.
"Take Action Now, Let's Make Volleyball Better Together!"
Let us look forward to the brilliant future of professional volleyball together!
